Riser Cleaning Catch Tool
The Gravity Junk Basket is a downhole tool used when cleaning/jetting
the riser and BOPs on a semi-submersible offshore rig. The tool is placed
in the string below the jetting/ cleaning assembly either during a short
trip or in a dedicated BHA. The gravity Junk Basket is spaced out to be
in the first joints of casing when the BOPs are being jetted. Debris dislodged
from the BOPs which is unable to be circulated out conventionally is captured
and retrieved from the well using the Gravity Junk Basket.
